Rotation Programme for Student Doctors in low-income countries

Within the study programme for the 2nd phase, an student can choose to participate in the Rotation Programme for Student Doctors in low-income countries (Tropico). The student must indicate his or her interest as early as possible in the Master’s programme (about 15 months before departure). When an student has participated in this programme, this will be stated in his or her medical qualifications. The application procedure is described on the UMCN students’ web site; the whole procedure is explained during CKO 1 by the co-ordinator (Dr. Monique Keuter) or deputy coordinator (Dr. Henri van Asten) of the Nijmegen Institute for International Health (NIIH).

Students studying elsewhere in the Netherlands can apply via Tropico for a place in the rotation programme after available places have first been allocated to Nijmegen students. They too must comply with all requirements regarding preparation for the programme. In planning to participate in the programme, Faculty regulations must be taken into account. See the Course Prospectus of the Faculty of Medical Science.
